Before we left Herrington Marina we took a trip to the National Art Gallery and Mount Vernon. Once again it was an adventure trying to get parking in Alexandria and then figuring out the nearest metro to the National Art gallery. It took some time to realize that I was looking for one in Delhi!Continue reading “Mount Vernon and the national Art Gallery. July 9th (About)”

Meeting the knitting ladies of the 1st Episcopalian Church in America Touring Chestertown and going over to the dark side on a motor boat!
June 29-July 12 We were both quite sad to leave Whorton as it is such a beautiful place. On the first night at the marina Jack drove us into Chestertown to watch the Euro Finals. He pointed out the Episcopalian church as one of the oldest in USA and said that we should explore theContinue reading “Meeting the knitting ladies of the 1st Episcopalian Church in America Touring Chestertown and going over to the dark side on a motor boat!”
It could be worse. The Head could be broken
For the non sailors the sea is the toilet. But that is later. On Friday we headed to Washington. Well, we drove to Alexandria to take the metro into Washington DC. We set our GPS for Alexandria Station but arrived at Amtrack. I couldn’t understand the station masters explanation as to where the tube/subway/metro wasContinue reading “It could be worse. Not Looking good !
Well we are in Herrington North and the mechanic is currently working on the engine. He was surprised we made it for 400 hours motoring without breaking something. ( I’m sure I heard him say under his breath. .. they must be wonderful sailors or something like that). He said the engine was badly malignedContinue reading “Not Looking good !”

(For the non sailors that’s mighty fast. Not for a car but certainly for M’Aingeal). Its like flying on a magicContinue reading “KNAPPS NARROWS June 29”
Solomons Island
For the grammar nerds amongst you I will admit I often don’t check my spelling or grammar but I will tell you that there is no ‘ on Solomons Island… so there. It is a beautiful Island, vastly different to the dilapidation of Crisfield. We had a wonderful greeting on arrival and invited to HappyContinue reading “Solomons Island”
Doing the laundry
Fond Farewells.
We just stayed one day in Norfolk as Pat and I had been there with Mat. Its amazing sailing through it though with all the aircraft carriers and helicopters flying overhead. We did visit the Hermitage museum. It was a beautiful house converted into a museum and gardens. The above picture was the dining roomContinue reading “Fond Farewells.”
Down alligator canal and up to Dismal swamp.
I don’t know how they decide to name these places but there were no alligators in alligator canal and I hope dismal swamp isn’t dismal. Our night conversations were at first quite sophisticated. Discussions along the lines of Dessert Island Discs very deep and meaningful with the background of wonderful lightening shows. An hour andContinue reading “Down alligator canal and up to Dismal swamp.”
What happens on the boat!
We had a wonderful start of the journey. Father Aldrin gave the blessing of the fleet and indeed we were truly blessed with the winds. It was a south east wind, aided by the Gulf Stream we raced along hitting 11 knots. That was even before we took the fenders in. Bad on me. I missedContinue reading “What happens on the boat!”
