We had a great train ride to Lille France. (90 minutes !) and I had booked a tour of Lille in a 2 CV. This was my first ever car and was delighted to see this one was even the same color. You could crank start it or even push start it yourself. 20 Horse power! I thought I was being fanciful when I was thinking that it even smelled the same but the driver commented on the smell.

It was a delightful day. We really would like to go back to Lille some day as there seems to be so much to see. We didn’t get into the cathedral but the guide told us that the window is made from a very fine marble and the light shines through it lighting up the inside spectacularly.

The following day going over to Belfast didn’t start too well. I realized when we were on the express train to Heathrow airport that we should have been going to City airport. Lots of chaos from then until arrival in Belfast where Dierdre was waiting with a good Irish lunch. I grabbed her guitar and headed up to Maghera. Where Fiona was waiting with good healthy dinner.

So lovely just talking the night away. The following morning Fiona and I walked along one of many walks in ancient woods near her. This one is a magical walk for the children. The smell of old woods is delicious.

Lunch with Suzanne and David.

A lady took the group photo and when we realized I wasn’t in the center we had to take another. Well her sister then photobombed that one

We went to see Naked Gun. Terrible movie walked out after ten minutes.

Beautiful morning again in Maghera walking and chatting. Pat is using hiking sticks and managing to walk miles!
Drive to donegal and when we were going into one pub I saw ‘musicians welcome’. I ran back to the car and brought in the guitar. What a night. The number of terrific singers. And I felt really at home there.
We’re having such a nice time I’m just going to post the pics and you can decide the stories.

The talk in the cottage was given by a man who was brought up in it. It was fascinating

Oh, how brilliant to catch up. And you didn’t get scooped up by the fairies.
We’re in Slabce so please include us or Prague in your next lightning tour.
What travelers!
hugs to all

Hello Jane!
I so enjoy traveling vicariously through you! It’s been 30 years since I’ve been to Ireland. I loved the friendly people, the merry impromptu music jams in the pubs, and the glorious scenery everywhere — especially the Cliffs of Moher. It looks like you’re having a grand time catching up with family and friends. Enjoy!
