Heading North

We headed up to Fort Pierce via the ICW instead of up the Gulf Stream as the weather was looking worse. There is no point in risking unnecessary thunderstorms. Fort Pierce was where the Navy Seals first originated and there is a great museum of the Seals. All the artifacts are the real deal and you can go into them. I even tried some of the training. I don’t think I passed.

They also have Free rides in a limited area in Tesla s. You just call them up via the freebie ap. It’s probably one of the first times we’ve not really needed any groceries so I decided we needed garlic. So cool being picked up and taken in a Tesla

When we arrived back we discovered by chance that Beth and Drake Smith had just come in to dock.

And the final photo

It was a great nights Craic. The following day we both skipped dock to get home before worse weather. The Smiths of course made it back in a day because of their beautiful speedy boat. But we were somewhat more leisurely.

The pleasure in that is you get to see the ospreys in their nests and occasionally little chicks popping their heads out. And sad sights of boats aground and slowly deteriorating.

We stopped in Eau Gallie on the way home and went for dinner with a couple who had just arrived in front of us. Those who have cruised will know how lovely it is to meet fellow cruisers. It is often the start of a good friendship. I hope in this case we meet Jack and Carol again.

We arrived home at new Smyrna just before the rain and in time for a drink at the Tiki. By coincidence Lou and Warren Mann were there. It was a lovely homecoming .
