As with every trip there is always one nagging piece of equipment that will not work. Our days in Coinjock were spent squeezed into the lazarrette trying to figure out why the manual bilge is not working while Forrest ‘assists’? Brian our mechanic with the electric bilge. (He was a talker!)

Seeing how they repair the outboard motor with duck tape made me a little anxious about Brian’s capability.
We did not need to do a shop but we’re out of onion. Thankfully the restaurant gave us two extra onions gratis😜. The waitress did express a bit of a surprise with our order

A long and somewhat uneventful (thankfully) trip to Portsmouth.

Portsmouth is a beautiful town steeped in history. The dock is free and in the center of the town however, there had been no mention of the tide. We went out to the local German restaurant ( big fat sausages disgusting sauerkraut). Pat loved it and I offered it up to the holy souls. On return to the boat the dock was 6 ins in water and boat sitting 5ft above that!

Unfortunately Pat broke his toe when he was getting into the boat.
The following night we were prepared for the tide but not the torrential rain. Everything was soaked as we had left hatch open.

But not to be undone in spirits we put the bread tin down to catch the leaks, cracked open the beer and played poker 👍

Very military on the water but much more historical on land . Although not so sure they carried their coffee around with them on days of yore. This couple just stroll around in a Sunday and stop to chat.

We went to the Chrysler museum. It is wonderful. Glass chess set with the Christians on one side and Jews on other. beautiful sculptures and all free (it’s worth blowing up the pictures of the art to see the beauty)

The painting below is glass. And they even considered a CPA as art

The maritime museum was also excellent. So, packed with knowledge we headed off for the Chesapeake. We’ve decided that Long Island is too long and we need any to stay a while in places and as Pat says ‘smell the roses’.

I have to say we are also smelling shoes as they dry out from the damp !

The review for Wormsley creek marina was that it was friendly and charming and indeed it is. But it didn’t mention that you might grind your teeth to nothing as you enter the narrow channel with 1 ft on either side!

And then another storm. Winds 30+knots

Very nice sounds like a lot of issues but fun. Hope pats toe is better you probably stood

I’m noticing a distinct lack of Dismal Swamp in this journey….
Have you given up on taunting the Witch of the Swamp???

No we went via Coinjock. But I think I’ll return to see the witch and Larry lamb on the way back. But funny you should comment as I just thought of you 💕
